History
With its inaugural 2005-06 concert season, Chicora Voices emerged as a combination of two established regional choirs for young people – The Boy Choir of the Carolinas and The Furman Children’s Chorus. This independent, non-profit children’s choir program builds upon successes of its predecessors to form an enhanced program unequaled in the region.
Based in Greenville, S.C.’s historic West End arts district, Chicora Voices is the premier choral experience for young singers in upstate South Carolina and western North Carolina. The six single-gender choirs that make up Chicora Voices serve choristers ages 7-18. Chicora Voices currently serves more than 150 choristers.
Chicora Voices offers an exciting program of rehearsals, concerts, social events and state, regional, national and international travel. The choirs sing alone and in collaboration with other CV choirs, as well as other choirs and orchestras in the region and nation. Chicora Voices has been featured in performances at Carnegie Hall, ,Piccolo Spoleto, Christmas at Peace, Greenville Symphony Orchestra’s production of Carmen, the Children in Harmony Festival at Walt Disney World, and tours in New York City and Washington, D.C.
