Meet Our Artistic Staff

Alan Reed, Artistic Director & Conductor Prior to the creation of Chicora Voices, Alan Reed was Artistic Director and Conductor of its predecessor choir, The Boy Choir of the Carolinas, for five seasons. He has been Director of Music at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Taylors since 2004 after having served Trinity Lutheran Church in Greenville for nearly 20 years. Alan has also served as a choral clinician for children’s and adult choirs in the Carolinas. Recent engagements include all-county choirs in Pickens and Charleston Counties as well as the 2013 Middle School SATB All State Choir in North Carolina. He holds a bachelor of music degree in vocal performance from Mars Hill College, with additional study in conducting and church music at Westminster Choir College and Trinity Lutheran Seminary.
Laura Jean Reed, Conductor As founder and Artistic Director of The Furman Children’s Chorus, predecessor choir to Chicora Voices, Jeanie Reed is a specialist in younger choral ensembles. She is currently the Music Specialist and Chair of the Fine Arts Team at Greenville’s Stone Academy of Communication Arts, where she recently earned Teacher of the Year honors for Greenville County Schools. Jeanie is an active clinician and guest conductor throughout the nation. Her most recent engagements include the 2013 Elementary All State Choirs in North and South Carolina. She holds a bachelor of music degree and master of arts in education from Furman University.
Jahnna Reck, Accompanist Jahnna K.S. Reck has been with Chicora Voices for seven years. She has a B.M. In Piano Performance from The Boston Conservatory and a M.M. in Piano Performance from Converse College. She is currently working on a MLIS at USC-Columbia. Jahnna has taught piano for 30 years and has performed in numerous shows in the Upstate. She is a freelance vocal accompanist at Furman University.

Jennifer Bibb, Interim Executive Director  Jennifer Bibb is a graduate of Furman University. She has been actively involved with Chicora Voices for four years. She began volunteering for Chicora Voices when her son joined the Cadet Choir in 2013. From there, Jennifer went on to manage Chicora Voices’ communications and then to serve as President of the Board of Directors. She began her work as Interim Executive Director in June of 2017.
